5 TIPS TO LOSE WEIGHT THIS WEEK

Here are 5 things you can start to do today to help you lose weight in a week! Don’t get it twisted though, I am not an advocate of fad diets or quick fixes, fitness is an ever-evolving battle. However, I do believe that sometimes when we stray from our goals we can do a few things to help get us back on track.

 

1.KEEP TRACK OF EVERYTHING THAT GOES INTO YOUR MOUTH

Keep a food diary – you can use your phone for this. Write down or take a picture of everything you put into your mouth. This will make you more conscious of how much and what you eat. You’ll notice the excesses and even start to cut down solely based on the fact that you would rather not have certain foods show up in your food diary. Keeping a food diary will also help you curb excessiveness on the weekends – which is a time when most of us tend to overdo it.

 

2. DO A CLEANSE/DETOX

I do a cleanse when I have strayed off of healthy eating for longer than I would like to admit (hey, I’m only human). A cleanse helps me refocus the way I think about food and get all that junk out of my system and a cleanse will do that for you too, plus you will get to lose a few Kgs and this can help motivate you to get your fitness game on. A cleanse is however not a permanent solution; it should not be done back to back to back.

 

3. WAIT UNTIL YOUR STOMACH RUMBLES BEFORE YOU EAT

Very often, we eat out of boredom, habits (e.g eating while watching T.V) and a variety of feelings, not hunger. If you’re fixing for a specific food, it’s probably a craving, not hunger. And if you’re hungry shortly after eating, you’re probably dehydrated not hungry; drink some water.

 

4. DRINK MORE WATER

I used to have a soda addiction; like a serious addiction. I stopped that addiction by not bringing soda into my house. Yeah, I hear you, you buy them for when you have guests, right? But then isn’t the usual trend that you end up drinking most of the soda instead? (be truthful). Trust me when I say your guests will be fine with a cold, tall glass of water. I increased my water intake by buying cool looking cups/bottles that actually make me feel like sipping out of them. I also flavor my water with lemon and cucumber mostly because drinking plain water can get pretty boring.

 

5. CLOSE THE KITCHEN

Choose a time to close your kitchen and stick to it. No going into cook or snack once the kitchen is closed. Closing your kitchen a few hours before bed helps curb late night eating habits; it’s amazing how flat your stomach will look in the morning too and who doesn’t like the look of flat abs in the morning? I know I do.
